Kilobytes Definition

By using the prefix kilo, accepted in SI, it is possible to indicate a unit 1000 times larger than the base unit. However, this does not always work for bytes and kilobytes since, in terms of random access memory capacity related measurements, there are 1024 bytes in 1 kilobyte. However, when dealing with transferring certain information values, 1 kilobyte is equivalent to roughly 1000 bytes. The symbol for a kilobyte is KB.

I got it. I divided 6134kbps by 1024 and got 5.99023475 so my conversion biterate choice is 6mbps thanks.

I now have snipets of what I'am trying to do.

greghardaway 2016-02-29 21:26:27

somewhat clearer explanation. Some specs uses single digit for mbps. That's hat led me to seek conversion formula.
on this table I see 4MB = 4096 KB yet at 200 Mb it's not recorded as 204 MB but the results is 204800.
can you see my confusion. like 4 MB = 4096 KB and not recorded as 40 KB. does my confusion make sense.
I need to see how many MBPS is total bitrate of 6134 KBPS. I'am guessing it would be 6 MBPS because that's the
one choice close other choices are 6, 8, 10, and13 MBPS. Make any sense to you ?
